Actor Laysla De Oliveira, known for her role as operator Cruz Manuelos on the Vital+ series Lioness, had never lifted a dumbbell before being cast on the show. She says, “This journey, although now familiar to me, is completely new,” referring to her work with celebrity trainer Duffy Gaver.
Over the course of three seasons training with Gaver, Laysla has built both muscle and confidence in the gym. She notes that “walking around feeling strong physically and also mentally has changed my everyday.” This has become an integral part of her daily routine.
Laysla’s full-body workout begins with a brief warm-up on the treadmill, followed by sets of 5, 10, and 15 push-ups and bodyweight squats. She says, “Walking around feeling strong physically and also mentally has changed my everyday,” and in the gym, she has made significant progress, including with push-ups.

Once fully warmed up, Laysla moves on to equipment-based exercises, including lat pull-downs, single-arm dumbbell rows, goblet squats, bicep curls, and tricep extensions. She emphasizes the importance of taking care of her lower body, saying, “You gotta always take care of that booty because you want it to pop.” This focus on lower body exercises, such as goblet squats done on a slant board, highlights her commitment to overall physical fitness.
When not filming or training for Lioness, Laysla prefers a less intense workout routine, picking and choosing exercises that work for her. What more can you ask for?
