The first thing you should do as a positive change in the right direction is to transition from sugary drinks over to water. Consuming too much sugar can be problematic to our health, contributing to a host of health issues. So, small changes in the right direction to consume less sugar will help to support you in your fitness journey. This doesn’t need to all be in one go, as for most people, that won’t be realistic for many people.
However, if currently you have 3 sugary drinks per day, start by swapping out one for a glass of water. Or, if you have two teaspoons of sugar in your tea or coffee, try reducing to 1 and a half, then to 1. These are baby steps, but will add up to make a big difference to your health. Eating less artificial sugars will also help to avoid blood sugar spikes, giving you more consistent energy which will support your training too.
